Fazenda Floresta: Embracing The Future
by THERESA CARDAMONE
The verdant foliage of the tropics and the vibrant hues of graceful historic structures complement the glistening coats of magnificent Arabian horses at Fazenda Floresta, outside of São Paulo, Brazil. There, Luciana Fasano has established the foundation for her breeding program through careful selection of individuals who carry the finest purebred bloodlines in the world.
Luciana’s head sire is AAS-Elishahh (Eden C x Sempre), Arabian Breeders World Cup Gold Supreme Champion and two-time United States National Champion. Elishahh is passing on his height, body, and extremely shapely neck to his progeny, along with soulful eyes, beautiful heads and attitude. Wonderful examples are his daughter, TM Eline, from the program of Claudia Teixeira, one of Brazil’s top breeders; and Oman, a Fazenda Floresta homebred. Elishahh has already sired numerous national winners, including the 2015 Brazilian Gold Champion Junior Filly, FHJ Vania, and the stunning Only Serondella, who was named both 2016 Brazilian National Champion Filly and Supreme Bronze Champion Female. Only Serondella is a fifth-generation representative of the Haras Serondella breeding program of Fabio Amorosino, the President of the Brazilian Arabian Horse Breeders Association.
“I had the pleasure of judging AAS-Elishahh in Las Vegas, where he was Champion Colt,” Fabio extols. “I was convinced that he should be heavily used in our breeding program, and we did it! In the very first foal crop, Only Serondella (x Jelabie Serondella) came out as a gift! A very feminine and correct filly, with nice proportions and a lot of charisma! She is now, at four years of age, our top producer ever, with two exceptional fillies already on the floor that will be strong contenders at the Brazilian Breeders Cup and Brazilian Nationals this year. Our other Elishahh get, Queniah Serondella and Queridah Serondella, will also compete at Nationals, and reflect the best traits of their father. I believe that a breeder should question himself/herself if each decision was worthwhile, and I am sure that using Elishahh was one of my best, ever!”
Luciana has gathered other exceptional stallions who bring a variety of bloodlines and traits to the table:
~ Vortex (FA El Shawan x Bhonytha ATA)
2012 Brazilian National Supreme Champion Stallion and National Champion Junior Colt
~ LLC Fasario (Aria Impresario x RD Fabreanna)
Brazilian National Champion, Scottsdale Champion and U. S. Reserve National Champion
~ Eccentric Valentino (DA Valentino x Amelia B)
U.S. and Canadian National Champion with reserve titles in three countries
~ Al Hadiyah AA (Laheeb x The Vision HG), a straight Egyptian stallion
National Championships in Israel and Austria and a Reserve Champion in Las Vegas
All are giving exceptional offspring, such as: Vortex’s Amir LF, out of Honeys Desire, the full sister to international champion Honey’s Delight RB. Amir was unanimous Junior Champion Colt at the Bragança regionals, his show debut; LLC Fasario is the sire of 2016 Brazilian Silver National Champion Junior Stallion, FT Pietro, who is already gaining popularity with international breeders; and Eccentric Valentino is crossing exceptionally well with straight Egyptian mares, producing exquisitely beautiful foals.
For now, Luciana Fasano is enjoying the special pleasure of having all the stallions at home on the farm where she can be close to them each day. She values the opportunity to nurture the bonds she has with each one. She is also enjoying her developing relationships with their second-generation offspring. And that is what it’s all about for a breeder; the magic connection that develops between Arabian horses and their people is a source of great happiness. And it is easy to imagine a future for Luciana and Fazenda Floresta where each year is filled with more joy than the next.
